MY EXPERIENCE AS A FREELANCE RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECT

IT’S AN ART TO WEAVE AN EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE SOLELY THROUGH DESIGN

— — Intentional Design leads to Intentional Living ——

THE BEGINNING

It was 2012, the introduction of bulky desktops in India. I logged into YouTube, not knowing that the first video that popped onto my screen would be what I love creating for the rest of my life—homes.

Since I was 12 and to date, I have re-arranged, re-iterated, and created spaces that are influenced by my vivid memory of how my emotions changed when my living room and bedroom looked and felt a certain way.

THE CONNECTION

5 Years of formal education later, every designer arrives at a stage where now you can put phase to your imagination through through the realm of softwares and books of ideation backed by technicality, which gave me a re-defined perspective that each home tells a tale—of family traditions, personal journeys, and unique aspirations.

For me, creating a transcending design narrative means delving deeper into a process beyond pen and paper. It’s about curating my journey for the client through a functional and emotional process of creativity and connection that further breathes life into the designs, enhanced by an architect's eye, expertise, and insights.

“ There’s something incredible about the way people explain their idea of a home ”

CROSS-CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE : AN UNKNOWN POTENTIAL

Growing up in Southern India and having traveled extensively across the country, I was deeply influenced by the diversity of family sizes, traditions, cultures, materials, colors, patterns, and native craftsmanship. These elements shaped my understanding that a truly great home is not solely about aesthetics; it encompasses everything you see and experience in each moment of the day. This realization became particularly evident in my own neighbourhood, where 360 homes each embodied distinct visual and sensory qualities, intricately woven together with stories that spoke profoundly through both their interior and exterior designs.

With the increasing demand for change and diversity in home design, the modern need is for a design that is relevant across space, time, and individuality. Meeting this need involves striking the perfect balance in a cross-culturally influenced design—one that neither feels out of place nor becomes a jarring mix of extreme ideas. Such an approach is ideal for those who value originality, appreciate global diversity, and seek a space that truly reflects both their personal identity and their connection to the world.

“THE MEDLEY THAT WOULD BE

EYE-CATCHY SPOTLIGHTS IN A HOME”

  • Modern sleek interiors with textile prints or Indian hand painted walls

  • Contemporary facades with Jali screens

  • Native American style homes with Indian Vaulted or Patterned Ceilings

With a childhood and growing years in a country where varied cultures, tradition, language and faith were visibly distinguishable through homes, while my mind was dreaming of an aesthetic in which both modernism and tradition could co-exist in one form or the other, I soon arrived at what I call

LONG TERM VISION: HOMES THAT EVOLVE WITH THE INHABITANTS

Only when you have a sight of the future, you excel and enhance the present.

I believe in designing for the future as much as for the present—crafting homes that age gracefully, adapting to the rhythms of life while preserving their architectural integrity.

Achieving this requires mastering the art of learning, listening, and understanding the needs and desires of every aspect of a home, from its lines and walls to the final touches, alongside all the key players involved from day one to completion.

From dynamic spatial configurations with retractable walls, integrated infrastructure for future proofing, high performance materials, modular metal cladding to flexible outdoor spaces, I move in the direction of constant understanding and upgrades in the field that’s the motivation to design bette.

My conceptualisation is further enhanced through what I call as ‘Visual Curation’ that reduces the gap between the clients need and the architects vision. This is backed by exceptional software knowledge that is also ever changing and evolving.

“The perfect view of the sunrise & sunset revolve around perfect spatial planning & unmatched attention to detail”
